The builders of this project, Optimus Properties, LLC, owners and operators of the Pico Rivera Marketplace for over ten years, want to provide Pico Rivera with a new housing alternative. As a “Gateway City” where Los Angeles and Orange Counties meet, Pico Rivera can offer much-needed housing solutions to its diverse residents, close to retail, recreation and transportation. Optimus Properties, LLC proposes a build, own and operate/manage role for the long term.
HISTORY OF THE AREA
MERCURY AUTO PLANT
The site of the proposed development began its story as a 157 acres Ford Motor Company Auto Plant in 1957 with the production of Mercury as well as Ford automobiles. Notable models included the Edsel Corsair, Citation hardtop, Comet, Thunderbird, Ford Fairmont and Mercury Zephyr. The production of over 1.4M cars continued for decades until the final car was assembled in July 1979, the plant closing the following year in 1980.
WHO WE ARE
Optimus Properties, LLC was started by the two brothers in 2007. But the roots of the Company were laid many years earlier by the brothers’ father, Houshang Shabani, who brought his family to the United States in 1978, as political and religious refugees.
